RISOGRAPH PRINTING DAY COURSE

WHAT IS IT?
Risograph is often described as digital screen printing, although it looks like a photocopier its process is more similar to that of screen-printing , where a stencil is created to produce a layered image. Riso prints can be identified by their retro, halftoned and fluorescent style. They are popular in zine-making and are used to create prints that are a fraction of the cost and effort of screen-printing. Riso-printing is also a much more environmentally-friendly process. The ink is soy based and generally the riso machine uses less energy and even turns itself off at the switch!
WHO IS THE TUTOR?
This workshop is delivered by Lauren Riley and Richard Knox.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
In this day's workshop we will walk you through the analogue process of using the Risograph machine. We will show you the basic methods of how to produce artwork and how to transform your artwork into a print. Once you’ve mastered the basics you’ll get the chance to use the machine and experiment with its different settings as you create your own two - four colour print edition to take away with you. You should expect to go away with at least 6 prints in A3 size.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?
This is a great workshop for anyone interested in Risograph , Artists looking at a new process or those looking to have a go at a fun, creative workshop!
If you’ve been to one of our previous workshops and would like to work on your ideas further this could also be a great option for you to get hands on with the machine!
WHAT’S INCLUDED?
All basic materials such as paper, drawing materials are included in this workshop.
A number of A3 prints will be produced on a range of, uncoated recycled cardstock for you to take home. Feel free to bring other drawing materials with you. You may also want to bring magazines/newspapers/copies of photographs to add into your artwork to collage with. Other materials and papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to try something a bit different or do more. Please note we will not be able to print out photos/images for you or have access to a photocopier, ensure you prepare these for the session in advance.
WHAT TO PREPARE?
Before the workshop, it would be useful to think about your artwork and you may want to prepare some ideas. The Risograph printer reads greyscale best so artwork will be created in black and white. There will be time in the session to create your artwork and we will have a selection of drawing materials (pencils, markers, black paper) for you to use but please feel free to bring other drawing materials with you. You may also want to bring magazines/newspapers/copies of photographs to add into your artwork to collage with. The aim is to produce layers of artworks that will be layered together to make one artwork once printed. It is also a good idea to bring a folder to take your artwork home with you.
WHERE?
Workshops will take place at our KIN.DER studio, Glossop Gasworks, Arundel Street SK13 7AB. Parking is available at the back of the Gasworks or there are car parks on Edward St & Bernard St.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you have to cancel:
If you are unable to attend your booked course, we may accept the fee paid as payment towards a place on the same or another course that takes place within 3 months of the original booking. This will be on the basis that written notice is given within 4 weeks prior to the originally booked workshop.
Bookings will only be transferred once.
If you are unable to attend, and not in a position either to transfer to another event, then the following charges will apply:
Cancellation charges
12 - 6 weeks before the course: 50 % of the fee will be retained by KIN.DER
Less than 6 weeks before the course: 100% of the fee will be retained by KIN.DER
Please note that full payment is required for non-attendance on a booking that has been transferred.

If we have to cancel:
KIN.DER reserves the right to cancel or rearrange courses if there are insufficient participants enrolled to run a viable course or for other unforeseen circumstances. We will do our best to give those who have already enrolled at least one weeks’ notice of cancellation. In such circumstances you will be offered a free transfer to another course date or a full refund of fees paid.
